The Salvation Army in Tupelo, MS serves families in Lee, Union, Prentiss and
the top portion of Monroe counties(from Amory up).We offer assistance with
food, clothes and financial assistance for bills also. We also have an
emergency shelter for anyone needing a place to live. On our shelter there is
no limit on where the individual is from. They must be 18 years or older
unless accompanied by an adult. They also can not have been arrested for
violent or sexual crimes and we do background checks on everyone admitted
to our shelter.

Food assistance is once every three months.
Clothing assistance is once every 6 months.
Financial assistance is once a year. Financial assistance includes rent, water
bill, electric bill, house payments, gas bills and we will assist with
prescription medications up to $40.00 and on the other $100 is the most that
we are able to provide. Families must first pay half of the bill that they
are seeking assistance for but not on prescriptions. We also offer assistance
with gasoline for automobiles once a year also.

Requirements for assistance-
Photo ID of the person applying. Social Security cards on everyone in the
household. Proof of income for the household. Income includes paychecks, Social
Security checks, unemployment checks, child support checks, food stamp
printouts and any other forms of income that a family receives. All current
bills paid or unpaid. Everything that they pay on a regular basis.

We also help families in time of disaster. Fire, flood and tornado. If a
families home has fire damage all we need is a fire report from the fire
station that responded to the fire.
